I am back with another interesting book "Essentials of Veterinary Parasitology by S. Pal and P. K. Sanyal", Parasitology especially, the Veterinary Parasitology is considered a boring subject. Students of undergraduate usually try to avoid the subject because of difficulties in remembering the scientific names of a wide variety of parasites, their classification, hosts, predilection sites, morphology, biology, pathogenesis, etc. Hence in the majority of cases, they lose their interest in the subject but this book is very much interesting because the author of this book made every effort to keep the book in a precise and compressed form without undermining basic information. Information in the form of points, tables, line diagrams, figures, boxes, etc. Important information and/or observations have been highlighted by using bold letters. Moreover, this book is written in simple language so that every student can easily understand and can remember it.
Efforts are made to keep the available Common parasites of different animals have been presented diagrammatically with a location in a particular animal. For the diagnosis of worm infection in the field, the original photographs of common helminthic eggs in different animals have also been given. Etiology, common or popular names of parasites, important lesions/conditions found in different diseases are listed separately so that a student can surf in the shortest possible time. To improve the conception and to clear the doubt of a reader, the meanings of different parasitological terms have also been given in the form of a glossary.
Above all, keeping in mind about the examination at B.V Sc. & A.H. level where 40 % marks remains objective as per New VCI rule, model questions along with answer keys have been prepared with incorporation of topics listed in New VCI course curriculum.
